Come out for VegFest
It was both exciting and inspiring to read Mark Zimmaro’s report on the coming food, music and vegan event on Saturday, June 14, at Bainbridge Green at 4th and Bainbridge streets (“Food and more at VegFest,” June 4). Having attended the five-block restaurant extravaganza, Flavors on the Avenue, in April on Passyunk Avenue, I could not help making comparisons.
At the Flavors event we also included free live music, dozens of vendors, plus enough food to attract thousands of visitors. The big difference of course is that the participating restaurants served every kind of food from vegan to animal based.
It was also very impressive to read how the VegFest is centered not only on plant based food but on products that are good for health and the environment and are cruelty free. So glad they are also promoting an animal sanctuary in Lackawanna County.
So many thanks to reporter Zimmaro for alerting our community to this unique event in South Philly. All the activities like music and speakers are free, same as our April event on the Avenue. Hope this VegFest also attracts thousands of visitors.Â
