Gateway to Play – from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at FDR Park. Join Fairmount Park Conservancy for a fun-filled Saturday. To celebrate the opening of the Gateway Plaza at Broad and Pattison as well as the launch of the Conservancy’s Fair Play Campaign, all of FDR Park will be buzzing with free activities, exclusive park tours, snacks and entertainment. The free event is for all ages. Food trucks are pay-as-you-go.

Billy Corgan – At the Theatre of Living Arts on South Street, Billy Corgan and The Machines of God will commemorate the anniversaries of the albums with sets drawn from Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness and the double album Machina/The Machines of God & Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music, as well as the 2024 release, Aghori Mhori Mei, with a national U.S. tour set to kick off this summer. Tickets at Ticketmaster.com.

With Love From America: A Honky Tonk For Ukraine – At 7 p.m. at Jefferson Square Park (400 Washington Ave.). Described as “a toe-tappin’, thigh-slappin’, rootin’, tootin’ good time,” the event features REV Theatre Company and a live band performing classic retro country hits. The show is free and family-friendly and donations will support Save Ukraine, an agency that rescues Ukrainian children deported to Russia and reunites them with their families.

Summer Solstice Midday Pause – From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Magic Gardens Studio, 1002 Watkins St. Join Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens for a rejuvenating Midday Pause to celebrate the summer solstice. The experience blends guided journaling with Dr. Hava Rose to connect and reflect with writing practice and conversation, a soothing sound bath with Coach Shay to help release tension, relieve stress and reflect on the journaling experience. Make Your Own Pride Zine & Buttons – From 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Whitman Library meeting room. Join artists from South Street Art Mart in learning how to make your own handmade zines and buttons from scratch to tell your own Pride story. For teens and adults. Part of the Free Library of Philadelphia’s LGBTQ+ Pride Month programming.

Wawa Welcome America – The festival will feature an expanded lineup of free multicultural and multigenerational events throughout Philadelphia on Benjamin Franklin Parkway with a star-studded concert featuring the two-time Grammy Award-winning hip-hop icon LL Cool J and Grammy Award-winning R&B singer, songwriter and Philadelphia native Jazmine Sullivan. The concert will be followed by Philadelphia’s largest annual fireworks display over the Parkway beginning at 9:30 p.m.

Second City – The improv comedy group is bringing its 65th anniversary tour to Philly with two shows at Live! Casino & Hotel. The show will feature songs and sketches crafted by some of Second City’s famous alumni like Tina Fey, Bill Murray and Stephen Colbert. Philadelphia Folk Festival Preview Concert – At 7 p.m. at Bryn Mawr Twilight Concert Series, 9 S. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Bryn Mawr. An evening featuring performances from Larry Ahearn, Lili Añel, Cloudbelly and Max Davey. It is a free event. All four performers are scheduled to play at this year’s Philadelphia Folk Festival. The event will offer a sneak peek of what to expect on the Old Pool Farm in Upper Salford Township this summer.

St. Monica’s Clothing Drive – St. Vincent DePaul Conference of St. Monica Parish will hold a clothing drive at St. Monica Senior School, 2500 S. 16th St., from 9 a.m. to noon. Please enter the school yard on the Porter Street side. Receipts will be provided upon request. This will be a good time to give to a worthy cause and eliminate clothes you no longer wear.
